Sometimes claims are made to hide the truth from strangers who would not understand. :)
Almost all the weddings I've known have been pretty boring where people simply smile at strangers whom no one bothers introducing, eat and eat and eat (usually, the kind of food I'm not all that fond of) and where much older relatives look at you with a wicked smile and express their desire to marry you off.
